The PSP console is an amazing entertainment gadget with which you can play games, movies and music of different format. However, one problem many PSP owners have is transferring music to their PSP console and successfully playing it. They either cannot transfer from their PC to the PSP or they successfully transfer but cannot play the music files. But that shouldn’t be a problem because converting audio CD’s to mp3 and then transferring to your PSP is actually very easy. In this article, I will show you how to do just this in six easy steps.

Before you begin, please be aware that one of the most universally accepted music format is the MP3. It can play well on any gadget and on any platform - Windows, Mac, Linux/Unix and even on your PSP. So it is the preferred format to use.

With that in mind, let’s get started with ripping your audio CD to mp3 format using Windows Media Player (available on any Windows OS).

1 . Insert your audio CD into the CD-Rom and launch Windows Media Player.

2 . On the Menu, click on Tools. Then scroll down and click on Options.

3 . On the Rip Music tab, note the location where the MP3 files will be stored on your PC. You can change this by clicking on the Change button under "Rip music to this location" section. Then select MP3 in the drop-down menu under "Rip Settings". You might need to drag the slider (under Audio quality) to the right a bit to get a better audio quality. Once you’ve done that, click OK.

Now you’re ready to rip your audio CD to MP3. Next step…

4 . To start ripping, click on “Rip” at the top of the main Windows Media Player window. Bingo! You will have for yourself your audio CD ripped to MP3.

You can verify that the CD ripped properly by going over to the location you specified in Step 3 above. Simply double-click on any of the MP3 files and it should start playing in your preferred MP3 player.

Now you’re ready to copy the MP3 files to your PSP. Next step…

5 . Turn off your PSP. Then using a USB cable, connect your PSP to your PC. Once connected, turn on your PSP again and put it in “USB Connect” mode. (In this mode, you will be able to transfer files from your PC to your PSP and vice versa.) Your PC should detect a new storage device and assign it a drive letter. If the drive does not open automatically, go to My Computer and double-click on the drive to open it.

6 . Now navigate to a folder called Music. This is where you would drag and drop your MP3 files. Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to play MP3’s on your PSP.

So there you go! Pretty easy steps to get to play MP3 files on your PSP.
